Anti-Ragging Policy
As per the AICTE Regulations dated 01.07.2009 and UGC Regulations dated 17.06.2009, and in compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, “Ragging” is strictly banned in all forms at Rungta Institute of Technology (RIT).
What Constitutes Ragging?
Ragging includes, but is not limited to, the following acts by any student or group of students, with or without intent:
- Any act of indiscipline, teasing, or handling with rudeness.
- Disrupting or disturbing regular academic activity.
- Financial extortion or forceful expenditure.
- Physical abuse causing assault, harm, or danger to life or health.
- Verbal abuse, use of email, SMS, MMS or public insult.
- Acts causing psychological harm, fear, hardship or annoyance.
- Violation of the right to human dignity.
- Wrongful confinement, criminal force, or intimidation.
- Unlawful assembly, abetment, or conspiracy related to ragging.
Note: Any such act, whether inside the campus, hostels, college buses, or even off-campus, shall be treated as a serious offense.
Punishment for Ragging
Students found guilty of ragging will be subjected to one or more of the following disciplinary actions:
- Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
- Suspension or expulsion from hostels/college buses.
- Debarment from appearing in internal or university examinations.
- F.I.R. registered with local police against the concerned students.
- Fine up to Rs. 25,000/-.
- Withdrawal of scholarships and other benefits.
- Rustication from the institution for 1 to 4 semesters.
- Expulsion and debarment from admission in any other institution.
- Notations in character/transfer certificates regarding punishment.
RIT maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. All students and parents are required to sign anti-ragging affidavits at the time of admission.
